A Red Notice is a request to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition. It is not a conviction and it is not, by itself, a UAE court order. Interpol’s own rules prohibit notices for private disputes dressed up as crime. What to do in the first 72 hours
Do not travel on assumptions. Instruct counsel to obtain the notice details, freeze impulsive public statements, and coordinate with UAE counsel on any existing criminal file. If the client is already in the UAE, local procedure and any DIFC or mainland court overlap must be mapped before a press strategy exists.
Extradition is a separate track
Even if a notice is later deleted, an extradition request can proceed on a treaty or comity basis. Dual criminality, specialty, and political-offence arguments are fact-specific.
